Passion, enthusiasm and positivity are the three cornerstones of success according to one former PM Training apprentice who has climbed the ladder of opportunity.
Mark Findler is proud of his accomplishments since setting up in business 25 years ago, and rightly so.
The 49-year-old proprietor of Mark Findler Decorating Services employs three people and decorates schools and medical centres throughout Staffordshire and Cheshire as well as many domestic properties.
He said: “I remember my time at PM Training very fondly. I was not a big fan of school and I didn’t like the idea of going to college, it felt too much like school.
“But when I started at PM Training, I felt like someone listened to me for the first time in my life.
“I always knew I wanted my own business, I used to walk past the barber shop with the owner’s name on the sign and I was so impressed with that.
“I was motivated and ambitious, one of my father’s motos was ‘if you’re not happy with the job yourself then don’t expect somebody else to be’ and I have carried those words with me all my working life.”
Mark believes learning a trade is a path to success for many young people.
He said: “I did not have any qualifications, but I knew what I wanted and I had the right morals and an honest approach with people.
“25 years on, I am still working with the first customer I ever had, and now we are friends.
“I never expected my business to grow the way it has, I’ve worked all over the country on really interesting projects, and after all these years in painting and decorating I am still learning new things and still asking questions.
“Everything happens for a reason, and I really try to instil my positive mental attitude in everyone I meet. If you are motivated and enthusiastic you can succeed.”
