A partnership between Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council and PM Training has been forged to create opportunities for young people.
Learners from PM Training will have the chance to gain work experience in the council offices and on the waste and environmental teams with the end goal of progressing to an apprenticeship with the council.
The scheme involves a rolling 12 week work experience programme, starting in June this year, with one office worker, and one Streetscene or environmental team worker being placed with the council at any one time.
David Wellings, head of partnerships for PM Training, said: “This is helping young people to take that first step into the world of work.
“Linking them up with an employer straight away will help them grow in confidence and see the opportunities which are open to them.
“It’s great to have the council on board and working with us to create a clear route into employment for young people.”
