Artworks tell a story

Two unique art sculptures created by PM Training apprentices have been installed ahead of the opening of an extra care village.
The Willow Barns apartments for retirees in Consett Road, Blurton, has a foyer full of creative flair, thanks to Artworks at PM Training.
Artworks is an urban art and street furniture service, based at PM Training’s centre in Shelton.
The pieces were designed by local school pupils who were inspired by things they associate with older age.
Phil Brown, Artworks Manager, said: “The story of the seat sculpture is about an older person, reading The Sentinel, drinking tea and saying duck a lot, which explains the duck.
“The willow tree one is about a farmer with his spade because the site of the development used to be a farm.”
