Fancy a career in gas and plumbing but not sure where to start? If you’re aged 16-18 and want to develop your skills over the next 12 months, we have just the job.


Our gas and plumbing pre-apprenticeship programme will support your progression into a Gas and Plumbing Apprenticeship working in our state of the art bpec accredited centre, sponsored by Vaillant Boilers.

Over the course of 12 months you’ll gain a Level 2 Foundation in Plumbing and Heating, leading onto an apprenticeship working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Plumbing and Gas Heating.

Along the way, you’ll get to explore work experience opportunities with local employers as you start your career in the sector.

What you’ll learn

  • Health and safety
  • Practical pipework fabrication techniques
  • Cold water system installation and maintenance
  • Hot water system installation and maintenance
  • Central heating installation and maintenance
  • Domestic sanitation system installation and maintenance
  • Domestic rain water installation and maintenance
  • Including practical exercises for the installation of a heating system, bathroom installation with appliances, cold water tank and cylinder practical installation with shower
  • Practical maintenance tasks

What is involved?

  • Three days per week
  • £25 per week ( including £10 bonus for full attendance)
  • Access to funded driving lessons
  • Support with travel costs
  • Free breakfasts
  • GCSE Maths and English (C grades or above preferable)

What job roles can I progress onto?

This course and the successful completion of an apprenticeship can lead onto becoming a plumber and a Gas Safe registered engineer. The sector provides opportunities to work in many businesses with the average entry salary of a Level 3 qualified engineer approx £25,000.
