Apprenticeship courses often do require a minimum of 2 to 3 GCSE’s grade C or above (incl. Maths and English), some employers request additional subjects or qualifications.
Traineeship Courses – Up to 6 Month Fast Track Programme to Apprenticeships and FE learning. Entry requirements: 2 to 3 GCSE grade C/D or above (incl. Maths and English)
Study Programmes – up to 12 Months, leading to Apprenticeships, Traineeships and FE learning. Entry requirements are discussed on an individual basis.
For all of our courses a successful interview with us is a core requirement, a keen interest in the subject, and the willingness to work hard and focus on timekeeping and attendance.
Support is the key to our success. Pre-apprenticeship learners are offered weekly attendance bonus payments of up to £30 per week, FREE travel, FREE breakfasts, FREE NUS Extra discount cards and other incentives and once learners are signed up onto an apprenticeship their pay increases onto the apprenticeship rates. All of our learners are offered FREE work trial opportunities and support in securing apprenticeships through our employer partnerships team, hence our progression success rates.
All of our pre-apprenticeship courses offer learners a range of different levels of qualifications from entry level through to level 3 and 4 courses and beyond dependent upon the vocational area and the learners’ individual needs. For all of our courses a keen interest in the subject is a must as well as the willingness to work hard and focus on timekeeping and attendance.

Yes, all employees aged over 16 must pay tax and national insurance on their income.
All employed apprentices get a wage. The current Apprentice National Minimum Wage is £3.30 per hour (as of 1st October 2015) and applies to all 16 to 18 year olds and those aged 19+ in their first year of their apprenticeship. If you have completed the first year of your apprenticeship and are aged 19+, you are entitled to the National Minimum Wage rate appropriate to your age. This is £5.03 for 18-20 year olds (as of 1st October 2015), and £6.31 for workers aged 21 or over. Remember, all employees aged over 16 must pay tax and national insurance.
Apprentices cannot work between 10.00pm – 6.00am unless the hours are crucial to the apprenticeship. Certain industries require different working hours, such as, hospitals, agriculture, retail, hotels or catering, post or newspaper delivery, cultural, sporting, artistic or advertising activities.
Employers must pay apprentices an additional £1.33 per hour for any hours between 10.00pm and 6.00pm.
You can work night hours if it is crucial to your role such as to maintain continuity of service or production and responding to an increase in demand for a service or product.
There’s no set length for an apprenticeship. It depends on the type of qualifications you take and the industry you work in. Apprenticeships can take between one and four years to complete.
You’ll get at least 20 days paid holiday a year plus Bank Holidays – the same as any other employee.
The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) pays the costs of your training depending on your age. If you are aged 16-18, NAS contributes upto 100% of the cost of your training. If you are aged 19-24, NAS contributes up to 50% of the cost of your training. If you are aged 25+, NAS contributes specified places. We will explain fully to your employer where they are eligible for fully or part funded apprenticeship places.
There are a number of elements to each Apprenticeship and this is called the Framework. This means you will get a range of qualifications as you progress through your training and education. Each Apprenticeship framework has three main strands:
- A competence based element
- A technical element
- A skills element
- The three strands are sometimes accompanied by additional qualifications to give the most relevant skills and knowledge required for the job that you are employed in.
