The idea for the Buzzard took flight as the second sculpture in a series based on indigenous species created for Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.
Mounted Mounted at a focal point in the town, the scale and detail of this piece makes it a real talking point. A ground-breaking project in terms of the fabrication techniques and skills involved, the Artworks team created this amazing sculpture in under six weeks.
Our bird of prey has a wingspan of over 3 metres, nearly 3 times as big as a real buzzard.
There are over 100 individual pieces in this intricate sculpture, forming feathers, beak and talons.
Despite being hugely detailed and a feat of metal forming, this elegant bird took only 6 weeks to fabricate.
