As a successful applicant you will be involved in all aspects of Production. Preparation of all materials, slip casting, fettling and sponging of product and Warehouse work. The main part of the job would be slip casting.
What is Slip Casting?
Slipcasting or slip casting is a technique for the mass-production of pottery and ceramics, especially for shapes not easily made on a wheel.
About Your Employer:
Keramica has been established since 1988. We are based in Hanley, just off Lichfield Street. We design and manufacture all our own products, which we would describe as contemporary design lead earthenware decorative ceramics, such as vases and lighting ranges. We supply people like John Lewis Partnership, Heals and BHS.

Applying English & Maths To This Role:
Preparation of raw materials would involve weighing out on the scales various ingredients. The apprentice would also have Production Lists to work from which involves counting the ware as it is produced. Slip casting also involves recording the length of time the raw material is in the moulds in order to obtain the correct casting thicknesses.
