Apprentices give the right attitude and work ethic

Castle Property Services Apprentices

Castle Property Services is a property refurbishment company with social enterprise at its heart.
The Newcastle-based firm started life as a ground work and landscaping company in 2001, thanks to a starter business grant for young people.

And founder Simon Cheshire believes in helping other young people to succeed.

He said: “I started out on my own and now I employ eight people and we are training the next generation.  “The business was set up with a grant from the Prince’s Youth Business Trust, it started from the grassroots.

“One of our former apprentices Dan Heraty is now fully qualified and he supervises and mentors Declan Sturge our latest plastering apprentice.

“I believe in social enterprise because it helped me get where I am today, and now I’m in a position to help others.
“It’s so satisfying and rewarding to see that full circle progression at both levels.”

As the company grew, it expanded into property refurbishment and restoration work and is now an accredited member of the Property Care Association.

Simon partnered with PM Training in 2012 and currently has three apprentices in his team.
He added: “I would recommend PM Training to other employers because the young people generally come with the right attitude and work ethic.

“We have some real success stories with people progressing in their careers and that makes it all worthwhile.”
