Reporting to the Service Supervisor, this position is offered at £4 per hour initially, rising to £4.50 after a successful 6 month probation period. The salary will be reviewed again after 12 months service.

Following full training, the post holder will service and calibrate high specification cable avoidance tools and accessories;

– Service, repair and maintain the hire fleet equipment
– Service and repair customer products to tight deadlines
– Keep accurate records of work carried out on all instruments
– Liaise with customer co-ordinators to ensure full satisfaction is met

The following standards of performance required;

– Carry out fault finding and diagnosis of hire equipment and our customer’s instruments
– Perform routine services on instruments
– Prepare estimates for service (time and material costs) and maintain records
– Continue to increase knowledge of all company products through liaison with all departments
– Able to steadily increase levels of productivity to meet company targets, whilst maintaining quality standards
– Develop knowledge of company quality policies and procedures
– Maintain a clean and safe working environment
– Perform other reasonable duties in the department as required, for example administration and the unpacking/cleaning of electrical equipment prior to servicing
– Ensure inter-departmental communication is fully met

Skills required for this apprenticeship;

– Previous workshop experience preferred, eg soldering and using hand tools
– PC literate for use of in-house systems and MS Office
– Highly motivated and keen to learn new skills
– A logical and systematic approach to work with a keen eye for detail
– Good communication skills to liaise with other department
– Able to listen, understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
– Ability to work on own initiative and within a small team

Personal qualities required for this apprenticeship;

– Excellent attendance & punctuality
– Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
– Must have a flexible approach to work, with the ability to multi task
– Able to travel independently to work, due to the rural nature of the site

Qualifications required for this apprenticeship;

GCSE English & Maths grade c or above or equivalent qualification are preferred

Interested in gaining a qualification in Electrical Engineering.
